This FREE workshop brings together the d/Deaf, Hard of Hearing (d/D/HoH) and Hearing yoga communities for a unique learning experience. Discover how to break down communication barriers and create a truly inclusive yoga environment where everyone practices together seamlessly, regardless of hearing ability.

This interactive session offers invaluable insights into the challenges faced in integrated yoga classes, practical skills for engagement, and the chance to be at the forefront of a transformative movement in yoga. Whether you're an instructor, practitioner, technologists, activist, or ally, your participation will help shape a future where yoga becomes a powerful tool for unity and accessibility across all divides.

    Learn the difficulties faced by d/D/HoH and Hearing instructors and d/D/HoH and Hearing yogis in an integrated yoga class

    Learn essential American Sign Language (ASL) relevant to yoga instruction and practice

  • Inclusive Yoga Practice

    A 45-minute gentle yoga practice with ASL skills in action

Learning Outcomes

  • Gain insight into the challenges faced by both d/D/HoH and Hearing practitioners in integrated yoga classes

  • Develop innovative strategies for effective non-verbal instruction and communication

  • Acquire basic American Sign Language (ASL) skills specific to greetings and yoga practice

  • Obtain hands-on experience in applying these new skills during a yoga session

  • Be equipped with the knowledge and tools to advocate for, promote, and implement inclusive practices in the yoga community

Additional Information

  • ASL interpreters and instructors will be available throughout the workshop

  • No prior experience with ASL or yoga is necessary

  • Please bring your own yoga mat and props

  • Wear comfortable clothing

  • Parking is FREE
